Definition #
Predictive Stratigraphy (PS) is a modern archaeological software suite developed by Dr. Casey Handmer. It combines multi-frequency Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) with a Machine Learning Feature Ontology to detect and identify carbonized ink, micro-textures, and structural anomalies buried deep beneath geological noise.
Context in the Divergence #
In the official site narrative, PS is the "miraculous" tool that allowed Director Parrini to "solve archaeology." In reality, while the tool is capable, its most spectacular successes are secretly guided by Ulysses and Lucia. They inject exact coordinates provided by Marcus into the PS data feeds, making the software appear far more accurate and "predictive" than it actually is.
Technical Function #
- Micro-texture Identification: Filtering noise to detect the residue of carbonized ink on papyrus scrolls.
- Structural Modeling: Reconstructing the layout of buried villas before excavation.
- Machine Learning Integration: Adapting the search parameters based on previous "finds" to create an automated discovery pipeline.
