Snapshot #
Dr. Elena Rossi is the lead archaeologist of Team B (Team Quant) at the Pompeii excavation site. She represents a rigid, hard-science approach to archaeology, believing that if something isn't in the dataset, it doesn't exist. She serves as a direct foil to Ulysses and his "miraculous" (tampered) discoveries.
Biography #
A senior researcher and field supervisor, Elena is known for her meticulous and humorless approach to data collection. Throughout the 2025-2027 excavation seasons, she became increasingly frustrated as her perfectly calibrated methodology yielded insignificant results while Ulysses and Lucia (Team A) made discovery after discovery. This professional jealousy drove her to investigate Team A's logs, eventually uncovering the mathematical "drift" that led to the security review by the Carabinieri TPC (pending).
Roles & Ranks #
- Senior Researcher: Her official position at the Pompeii site.
- Team B Lead: Supervisor of the geophysics and stratigraphy specialists in Team B.
Relationships #
- Parrini: Her bureaucratic superior. She competes with Team A for his favor and resources.
- Ulysses & Lucia: Her professional rivals. She openly despises their "unscientific luck" and suspects them of data manipulation.
- Marco & Sophie: Her subordinates in Team B, who share her frustration with the site's results.
Key Appearances/Events #
- The Replication Crisis: Her report on the statistical impossibility of Team A's results triggered the forensic audit.
- Discovery of the Imperial Vault (Sector 5): The "save" that interrupted her investigation, unaware that the data was planted by Ulysses.
