The Iliad #
Ulysses narrates the alternate version of the Trojan War found in the scroll. "In this version, no gods stepped down from Olympus. It was just a long, cold war of attrition."
The Trojan Horse wasn't a gift, but a wooden tower covered in wet hides to stop fire-arrows. Inside, men strained at ropes and levers, swinging a massive, iron-tipped ram.
"They didn't wait for the Trojans to open the gates," Ulysses notes. "They broke them."
This is the version kept in private libraries, a raw account of work and war that was ultimately kept from the general public.
