The Mourning #
The banquet hall is empty and dark. Aulus's body lies covered by a blood-stained cloth. Livia sits in a stool opposite him, her grief cold and silent. She doesn't cry; she plans.
She stands and gives orders to a servant: "Stay with him. Do not let the candles burn out."
In a side room, she meets with three low-level enforcers. Her face is a void as she gives the command that will signal the final break from Rome: "The man in the white toga at the docks. He thinks he owns the sun. Bring me his head. And the heads of the two who stand with him."
